The Cabins

[Entire Property] A Secret Base Featuring Three Micro-Cabins and an “Unfinished” Observation Deck

Tiny House ZEN Kurahashi is a special sanctuary reserved exclusively for one group per day.
The property features three minimalist cabins, each serving a distinct purpose, along with a private observation deck that overlooks the calm Seto Inland Sea.

Experience the Essence of Minimal Living

This is not merely a place to “stay”—it is a space designed by subtracting the unnecessary, allowing you to fully savor “the luxury of doing nothing.”
As you wander between the wood deck connecting the three units and the front-row seat on the roof, you are constantly embraced by the sea breeze and the gentle sound of the waves.
Let go of excess, and experience a restorative journey that returns you to your true, authentic self.

A Minimalist Cabin Stay Connected to the Beautiful Archipelago

The exterior walls are clad in Yakisugi (traditional charred cedar), blending seamlessly into the natural landscape. Designed by Tadashi Murai, a pioneer of Japan’s tiny house movement, these designer cabins function independently as a bedroom, living room, and bathroom, yet they perfectly harmonize in a single, flowing rhythm.

■ Ocean Deck: A Private Front-Row Seat to the Sea

[Newly Built: February 2026]
On the roof of the Living Box, we have created an exclusive observation deck, intentionally designed like rugged construction scaffolding. Place an outdoor chair and enjoy your private sanctuary (secret base) from the stunning, crimson sunset to the star-filled night sky, without anyone disturbing your peace.

● No TV, Just the Symphony of Nature

We intentionally do not have a television in the cabins. The soothing sound of the waves and the beauty of the starry night sky are the only background music you need here.

● A Time to Reconnect with Your Inner Child and Restore Your Heart

The cabin is equipped with items to help you enjoy an extraordinary escape: picture books, binoculars, a star chart, and Zazen (Zen meditation) cushions. Whether you are using binoculars to gaze at distant islands and passing ships, regulating your breath on a Zazen cushion, or simply staring at the ocean, time flies by beautifully when you do nothing at all.

■ Sleeping Box: Bedroom & Workspace

This cabin features two comfortable beds and a long desk facing the ocean.
It is the perfect private space for quiet reading, deep reflection, or a peaceful “workation” while listening to the soothing sound of the waves.

■ Living Box: Lounge & Relaxation

Furnished with two sofa beds, this cabin allows up to 4 guests to stay when combined with the Sleeping Box. (Note: For groups of 3 or more, we kindly ask you to set up the sofa beds yourselves.) When staying as a group of two, you can enjoy this cabin as a spacious relaxation room. We highly recommend using the portable Tatami mats and Zazen cushions provided here for a quiet meditation session.

■ Bath Box: Kitchen & Washroom

We have consolidated all the utility spaces into this single cabin, including the kitchen, washroom, toilet, shower, and a washing machine. Equipped with a 2-burner induction cooktop, a microwave, and a full set of cookware, it provides everything you need for a stress-free, comfortable “home-away-from-home” experience. (Note: The toilet is equipped with a modern Japanese bidet/Washlet.)

■ Authentic BBQ & Bonfire at the Brick Hearth

Enjoy a genuine charcoal BBQ or a cozy bonfire at the brick hearth on the property (conveniently located right next to a water tap). Alternatively, we provide a portable gas stove and an iron griddle for easy cooking on the wooden deck under the tent roof. Savor the slow passage of time as you gather around the fire, feeling the gentle breeze of the Seto Inland Sea. (Note: Please let us know in advance if you wish to use the BBQ/bonfire equipment.)
